Shree Jiravla Parshwanath Jain Tirth Story - Jainism Facts

Shri Jiravala Parshvanathji of Padmasanastha is adorned with Veluna, white and seven fana. 11 inches high and 12 inches wide. This idol is enshrined in the outer recess of the left side wall of the protagonist in Bhamati. Prabhuji has been coated with Real Moti.

The history of Shri Jirawala Parshvanath Tirth is glorious. In ancient scriptures Jirawala is mentioned as Jirapalli, Jirikapalli, Jiravalli Ancient scriptures state that Jirawala was a prosperous city in ancient times.
It is about the time of Samvat 1109. An old cow living in a place called Brahman, now known as Varman, used to fetch milk every day in the cave of the goddess named Sehili. The old woman told this curious news to the best of the village named Dhandhal.
Dhandhal Shrestha went to that place at night and after remembering the Namaskar Mahamantra, he hinted that there was a beautiful, captivating jinbimb in the place.\

Early the next morning the union gathered to bring this idol out of the ground. The people of the town who lived near this cave also arrived with great enthusiasm. As everyone was very patiently digging at that place, the divine jinbimb image of Shri Parshvanath Prabhu appeared from it. Seeing the idol, everyone present became emotional. The Brahmins and the Jiravala village unions filed their respective claims to take the idol to the right place.

At the suggestion of an old man, Paramatma was seated in a bullock cart attached to a bullock cart from both the villages and the chariot moved towards Jirapalli. An opportunity of joy and happiness emerged among the people of Jirapalli. Prabhuji's grand entrance festival was held in Jirawala town. There, this idol was enshrined in the Jinalaya of Shri Virprabhu as the protagonist. Dhandhal Shrestha built a magnificent Jinalaya at Jiravala and in this new Jinalaya Shri Parshvanath Prabhu was enthroned with the blessings of Ajit Devsuri.

The glory of this tirtha began to resound everywhere as the devotees were enriched by the mere sight of this tirtha. In the year 1368, Allauddin Khilji's army delivered Kanhaddev to Yamsad and conquered Jalor. The Jirawala shrine was damaged by Alauddin Khilji's army during this invasion. Then the idol of Shri Parshvanath Prabhu was shattered. A new statue was erected in place of the fragmented statue and this fragmented statue was placed to their left. That ancient fragmented idol is today known as Dada Parshvanath.New fragments on the limbs of the fragmented idol are still found today.

The invaders who smashed the image of the ancient side Lord had to suffer the immediate consequences. This act caused untold inconvenience to the subah of Jalor. Suba underwent several treatments but none worked. At the suggestion of the tax collector, Suba came to this shrine and apologized by shaving his head in front of the image of Lord Parshvanathji. Doing so calmed his nuisance. It is said that since then the practice of shaving has started in this tirtha.

Sanghvi Alharaj, son of Zanzansheth, the state ruler of Alamshah, the emperor of Mandvagadh in the 15th Century, to save this shrine by using abundant wealth to changed the protagonist of the shrine.
Shri Jiravala Parshvanath and Shri Dada Parshvanath were seated in the two recesses of the wall on the left side outside the gabhara. As well as Shri Neminath Prabhu was honored as the protagonist. When did this change take place?no information is available about that.

According to a belief, this idol was seen by Shri Mahavir Swami. Today the glory of this pilgrimage is increasing day by day. On auspicious occasions like the prestige of a pilgrimage, Shantisnatra, etc., the mantra letter of Shri Jiravala Parshvanath 'Om Hrimshri Jiravala Parshvanath Namah' is inscribed. Devotees worship this tirtha in the Sutra of Pratikrama.
